The Trump gambit against GOP on Harvey, Irma funding now, debt ceiling, CR later sets up stark political choice for American people

By Bill Wilson

The establishment GOP and their domesticated “conservative” pets are in a rage over President Trump’s move to secure relief funding for the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas (and now Irma) by brokering a deal with the Democrats. The President gets the funding now, no fight, no Christmas Tree piling on more ridiculous spending. He also buys three months for Congress to work out the debt ceiling mess, the coming fiscal year spending plan and the appropriation of the funds to keep the government running.

The tools in the GOP are reportedly “furious” because this move upends their schemes.  Oh horror, they scream. How will we ever deal with all of these issues at the end of the year? The evil Democrats will hold up the process, filibuster and use the rules to force us to grant full amnesty to the hordes of illegal aliens, spend billions more on insurance subsidies for Obamacare, and block efforts to build the southern border wall to prevent even more illegals from entering our nation. What are we to do?

Well, President Trump has an answer for them. Do your job! Follow the Constitution. And, take responsibility for the end result. So, if you allow more illegals into the country, it is your fault Mr. Speaker, Mr. Majority Leader. If the debt ceiling is held up because of radical demands of the Democrats — a redundancy I know — then you take the hit with the public. That is the way it is supposed to be and the way it was until the rise of the leftist nightmare known as the “administrative state.”

What the President has done is get immediate funding for the victims in Texas and given Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell three months to make a decision. Do they stand by their words and support the overwhelming majority of Americans who want an end to illegal aliens flooding our shores, taking jobs and spots at schools away from American citizens? Will they fund the wall? Will they start to rebuild our military and treat our soldiers and veterans with the respect they are due?

Or, will they curl up in the fetal position and beg not to be kicked too hard? The choice is theirs to make and the President has put it firmly and boldly on the table for all to see. Yes, to move forward now will require Paul Ryan to finally force the traitors in the GOP Caucus — a.k.a. the Tuesday Group of so-called “moderates” — to join the GOP and stop shilling for the Left. And, it will require Mitch McConnell to stop letting arbitrary rules such as the filibuster — measures designed by Democrats a hundred years ago to enhance the power of a few individuals — get in the way. He will finally have to jettison the relics that have led America into the arms of the globalists and totalitarian thugs of George Soros and others of his ilk.

The choice is plain and simple. Ryan and McConnell can be the leaders they claim to be, take strong action and deliver on the agenda that all but a handful of Republicans and a majority of Americans desperately want; or, they can continue the run and hide game at which they are so adept and let the Democrats get their way. If they are thrown out of office as a result in 2018, so what? If we have a Democrat-lite Congress now, what is to fear from the full blown version?

In one master-stroke, President Trump has set up this choice, shown the GOP if they intend to attack him, he is prepared to return the favor and presented the country with the most stark political choice possible. Good. This is why he was elected, to break all the stale, worn-out traditions, and force real change. The ball is now in Congress’ court. Grab a seat, this is going to be one of the most enthralling dramas the country has seen in a very long time.
