The question swirling around Washington, D.C. is whether President Obama is politically dead due to his Obamacare, “you can keep your insurance” lie?
It is no longer a question of whether Obama lied, it is merely diagnosis of the fallout.
Vulnerable Democrat Senator Kay Hagen of North Carolina has admitted through a spokesperson that she knew he was lying all along. Senator Kristen Gillibrand of New York has admitted the same.
While groups like Americans for Limited Government have been pointing out since the middle of 2010 that Obama’s own Labor Department predicted in employer health insurance regulations that they promulgated that as many as 69 percent of all employer health policies would not be allowed, the lie continued to be told and believed.
After all, a second term needed to be won and the ends do justify the means in the minds of liars.
Most recently, President Obama apparently stuck in a delusional world, decided to shut down the federal government rather than delay the implementation of his signature legislation.
Even more recently, Obama spokesmen and surrogates attempted to argue that only those with “junk” insurance were losing their coverage. A claim refuted by liberal political columnists like Kirsten Powers.
The truth is that once a liar gets exposed, all the kings horses and all the kings men can’t put his credibility back together again.
Yet how can anyone be surprised that this Administration lies with impunity? They aren’t even very good at it.
Then United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice went onto every weekend talk show the weekend after four Americans were slain by terrorists in Benghazi, Libya on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, spreading the abject lie that the attack was fomented by an Internet movie that no one had ever seen or heard of prior to the attack.
More than a year and a half later, Team Obama has refused to allow the truth to be told about who made the decision to concoct a story, and more importantly, who made the decision to leave those Americans alone to die.
Susan Rice, for her part, did not get her coveted Secretary of State appointment, but did get the very nice National Security Advisor consolation prize. A nice promotion in exchange for her diverting the heat away from the Administration during the short time the public was focused on the attack. As Obama and his team knew, it would not be long they and the media that feeds them had been distracted by the latest Kardashian marriage, sports or other trivial pursuit.
When a president has learned through experience that there is no accountability for lying and it only serves as an advantage, can we expect any other choice?
Now, that same president is coming back to Republicans and asking them to trust him on a different issue — immigration reform. He is promising that he will help them politically if they pass legislation to his liking.
The same president whose staff equated those who attempted to stop the disastrous implementation of Obamacare to terrorists is now, a month later, urging those same people to trust him with the promise that he will trade off of his popularity for them.
A popularity and trust that no longer exists as the public has discovered what even the Democrats in D.C. knew about Obama. He cannot be trusted.
However, this latest promise to Republicans on immigration reveals the ultimate truth about Obama, he may be the only person in D.C. who thinks he has any credibility left.
This self-delusion is the final lie of this Administration, even though the nation has to endure it for another three years.
