Senate Republicans fail to stop vaxx mandate, ALG doubles down

Biden’s unconstitutional federal government overreach is a classic battle between those who believe in limited government powers versus those who believe there is no end to what the federal government can do.

The fight to defund Biden’s unconstitutional federal government overreach is the fight congressional Republicans were elected to fight.  It is a classic battle between those who believe in limited government powers versus those who believe there is no end to what the federal government can do. There is no good reason for Republicans to vote for any spending bill that funds the enforcement of Biden’s vaccine mandates. Not a single one.

Incredibly, last night 19 Senate Republicans voted with every Democrat to kick the can on this battle for the heart and soul of our nation until February 18th, choosing to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR) funding bill to keep the government open that funds the Biden mandates. Three Republicans, John Thune, Jim Inhofe, and Bill Hagerty, did not vote.

These 19 senators voted with the Democrats to fund vaccine mandates immediately after pretending to oppose those same mandates when they voted for an amendment to the funding bill, that they knew would fail.  This is known as a show-vote, designed to allow politicians to tell their constituents that they oppose something, like Biden’s vaccine mandates, while not being willing to actually do what is needed to win the fight.

Americans owe a great debt of gratitude to Sen. Mike Lee and others who fought to get this amendment to the floor in a legitimate attempt to stop the mandates. If nothing else, it revealed which senators are talking out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to opposing these abusive, unconstitutional Biden dictates.

All across the nation we have Republican governors, attorneys general, state and local legislators actually fighting the vaccine mandates.  Stopping them from being implemented in their states, suing and winning against the Biden administration in federal courts, doing everything within their power to protect the people they represent from being fired from their jobs. Yet 18 Senate Republicans who had the power to put an end to the fight failed.  Cowering in the senate cloakroom, afraid of being chastised in the Washington Post for shutting down about 17 percent of the government, they chose instead to let others fight to correct a wrong that they lack the courage to end.

The good news is that 28 Republicans voted against funding the government if vaccine mandates were allowed to be enforced. With 41 votes needed to successfully stop the passage of a government funding bill in which includes vaccine mandates in February, there is a lot of work to be done. That’s why Americans for Limited Government is redoubling our efforts to get the senate to put freedom first and end this Biden-induced nightmare.

Americans for Limited Government (ALG) will be expanding our nationwide campaign aimed at ensuring not a single taxpayer dime is used to pay for the enforcement of President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional COVID vaccine mandates putting a special focus on those Republican senators who claim to oppose the mandates, but didn’t have the backbone to actually use their power to end them.  We will also be focused on Democrat Senators who represent liberty loving states in an effort to persuade them to represent their voters.

Sen. Lee, took to the Senate floor on Thursday to make it clear that he stands with American workers.

“Our economic condition is increasingly dire,” Lee said. “Inflation is becoming long lasting. The supply chain crisis has shown the prime value of American workers. I can’t think of a worse time to kick them to the curb. I want to be very clear. I don’t want to shut down the government. The only thing I want to shut down is Congress funding of an immoral, unconstitutional vaccine mandate. However, if the choice is between temporarily suspending non-essential functions on the one hand, and on the other hand, and standing idle as up to 45 million Americans lose their jobs, their livelihoods, and their ability to work, I’ll stand with American workers every time. That’s not a close question.”

Click here to let your Senators know where you stand by taking action now.

And please check back to our website at www.GetLiberty.org as the take action will be updated to allow you to directly praise your senator(s) if they stood strong for freedom and let your senator(s) know your dissatisfaction if they didn’t.

It is time for Republicans in Congress to understand that there is no more pretending.  People are losing their jobs and their freedoms due to these obscene mandates, and if they don’t start using the power that you gave them to protect liberty now, you have little incentive to trust them with that power in the future.
