For the fourth time, the Chris Dodd financial takeover bill has failed to make it closer to passage. In a vote that concluded moments earlier, the Senate was unable to pass the bill in the cloture vote, failing 57-42.
Voting against the bill was two Democrats. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Russ Feingold (D-WI) both voted against the bill saying that they wanted additional time to have their amendments considered.
As usual, the two Senators of Maine, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe broke ranks with Republicans and voted for the takeover.
Democrats are running out of time to pass the bill ahead of the Memorial Day recess given that next week’s schedule is dedicated to the War Funding Authorization bill.
