Protesters Rip Leonard Lance’s ‘Yes Vote on Cap-and-Trade Energy Bill

WESTFIELD — Nearly two dozen protesters converged on Rep. Leonard Lance’s North Avenue office in Westfield on Monday. They were opposed to the congressman’s affirmative vote on the 1,600-page American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (H.R. 2454), better known as the cap-and-trade or global warming/climate and energy bill. Opponents called the bill, which supporters say is the first legislative action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, a national energy tax.
