It can be difficult to keep up with the fire-hose of information and news these days. The flow is unyielding and virtually all extremely important. One news item just released by Just the News cannot be overlooked. In a startling disclosure, John Solomon released documents showing that leftist California Senator Adam Schiff had purposefully with malicious intent leaked classified information from the Intelligence Committee. He did so with the express purpose of harming President Donald Trump.
This may seem like a nothing-burger. And it is certain that Schiff and his cronies will try to characterize that way. But it is serious to the point of criminal. Consider.
As a Member of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff had access to all of our nation’s secrets. He was in the unique position of knowing a broad range of information that included the true, false, unproven or mere conjecture. In 2017 a ten-year Democratic staff member notified the FBI that Schiff had instructed the leak of tidbits packaged to make Donald Trump look bad to the press. He used his trusted position to smear someone he disliked without regard to the impact on the nation or the institution he was charged to serve. As FBI Director Kash Patel said, “It was all done with one purpose: to weaponize intelligence and law enforcement for political gain.”
We also know that he engaged in questionable financing moves that have resulted in a Special Prosecutor investigation into mortgage fraud. What we see is the same story; twist the rules, act with disregard to the impact on the institution all to gain benefit for himself.
This latest revelation is a step too far. By using his position on the Intelligence Committee to further his political aims, Schiff has shown himself unfit to serve. But how can the American People get justice, how can Adam Schiff be held to account for his “weaponization of intelligence and law enforcement”?
There is one way. The Senate can expel him — kick his sorry butt out of the Senate. Short of prison, that would be the most painful penalty that could be given.
The Senate Ethics Committee needs to immediately open an investigation and vote on whether or not to recommend expulsion. Given that the Committee is divided 3 Republicans and 3 Democrats, it is unlikely it would render a recommendation to expel. But it need not end with this contrived “member protection” racket. Simply put, a motion to bring the matter directly to the Senate floor should be made and voted upon.
What is likely to happen? Sadly, there are some “Republicans” that would likely support Schiff for no other reason that to jab President Trump in the ribs. But they would be on record as backing the serial leaker. They would have to explain to their constituents why Schiff deserved to keep his Senate seat; or they could join Tom Tillis in the category of “former Senator.” Either way the country wins.
The Senate has considered expelling a member 30 times in the past. In 9 cases, the Senate voted not to expel. And in 4 cases the Senator in question resigned in disgrace but saved the Senate the burden and embarrassment of expelling them. The most recent such case was Senator Bob Packwood of Oregon in 1995. So, it is not unheard of for the Senate to act and it is also not out of the question that the individual charged doesn’t finally accept the impact of his actions and does the right thing.
Will Adam Schiff have the modicum of decency and follow the example set by Bob Packwood? Or, will he cling to power to the final second and drag the United State Senate and his colleagues through the mud?
At the end of the day, it may not matter what Adam Schiff does. Any Member of the Senate can initiate action on the floor to remove him. Special Prosecutor Ed Martin and the Grand Jury could move on the charges of mortgage fraud. And, as every day brings further evidence of the wrongdoing and vile actions of the radical left, there could be still other incidents of possible criminal behavior. One thing is clear, however. Adam Schiff has passed his apex of power in Washington, D.C. It is all downhill from here for this radical acolyte of the globalist deep state.
