“Our dependable patterns from the past are all being blown up and everyone feels that something is off. Basic assumptions we used to live with are no longer valid.”
Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning is a weekly guest on the Bill Meyer radio show on KMED radio in Medford,OR. This week Rick and Bill talked about the storm clouds that hang over the country and in particular over Washington, D.C.
Bill Meyer: I was thinking about coming out to DC next week for a border security event, but I am not going to make it. Betweeen Covid and other things going on, it just doesn’t feel like the right time to be visiting D.C. Things just generally don’t feel right in the country. Do you feel it, Rick?
Richard Manning: I think we all feel it, Bill. And having been in D.C. recently, I can tell you that things are not “normal.” Federal workers haven’t been into the office in over 18 months. Nancy Pelosi is threatening to shut down the government next week if she doesn’t get her big spending bill. But, I’m not even sure that means anything. Its not like federal workers are coming into work right now, anyway. Businesses are shut down, restaurants are closed.
Bill Meyer: It really feels like the country is in a malaise, like in the Carter years. It’s hard to put my finger on it, but nothing feels right.
Richard Manning: Because our dependable patterns from the past are all being blown up and everyone feels that something is off. Basic assumptions we used to live with are no longer valid. For example, we never thought we’d see healthcare rationing in America. But that is exactly what is happening right now under President Biden. He is rationing life-saving monoclonal antibodies from states that aren’t willing to impose his mask and vaccine dictates. Conservative states such as Florida are being told they can’t have full access to the treatment.
Bill Meyer: What about the election audit in Arizona? Can we trust those results?
Richard Manning: I have no expectations out of the Arizona audit. But one positive thing that has happened in Arizona is that they passed a law that blocks outside, third-party groups from interfering in elections. In the last election Mark Zuckerberg’s group was given full access to vote storage facilities. These are the kinds of irregularities that we must prevent in future elections.
