Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is peddling a Joe Biden scheme to have all the world’s developed nation’s promise to keep corporate tax rates high so that no country can get a tax advantage over another. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Biden wants to hike U.S. corporate tax rates from 21 percent up to 28 percent – and impose a 21 percent minimum tax on U.S. companies foreign income and raise taxes on some foreign companies’ U.S. operations.

Ms. Yellen said in remarks to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs on Monday, “It is about making sure that governments have stable tax systems that raise sufficient revenue to invest in essential public goods and respond to crises, and that all citizens fairly share the burden of financing government.”

Biden may be a dolt, but he is no dummy. He knows that if his corporate tax hikes are enacted without a global minimum tax, a U.S. address becomes a potential disadvantage, meaning that foreign-owned businesses operating overseas could be significantly more profitable than competitors owned by U.S. companies.

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter is releasing his memoirs today and the media is throwing him softballs. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. CBS News’s Tracy Smith had zero follow up to this obvious question:

“And you didn’t drop off a lap top to be repaired in Delaware?” No, not that I remember, at all.”

Fox news contributor, and former congressman Trey Gowdy says Hunter’s many personal tragedies don’t give him a pass from hard questions.

“When you write a book and when you traffic in your father’s name, then you’re going to be scrutinized, and all I’m asking is that the media and social media scrutinize him the same way they did the Trump children and the Bush children. Just be fair about it.”

And what about the revelation that Hunter was first exposed to alcohol at age 8 at his father’s senate reelection party? Sounds like child neglect to me.

Former Trump Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli told Real America’s Voice News that under H.R. 1 – Nancy Pelosi’s Steal the Vote bill – illegals will be eligible to vote.

“They want large numbers of illegal aliens invading the country. They view them as future voters.”

Cuccinelli also warns Mexican cartels are using human trafficking as a distraction from their more profitable venture – drug trafficking. He said while Border Patrol focuses on illegal aliens, they are not paying as close attention to the drugs being smuggled across the border.

He urges Americans to stay vigilant and continue to fight for border security.

“If you say you’re done on your border, you don’t have a country.”

Washington’s borrowing a lot of money to pay for the costs of fighting the pandemic and some economists are asking how we will pay for all this deficit spending. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen.

Former Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton, Larry Summers recently told Bloomberg News that he worries President Biden and Congress are spending too much, too fast.

“What was kindling is now igniting. And I am much more worried that we will have either inflation or we will have a pretty dramatic fiscal-monetary collision. I think this is the least responsible macro-economic policies we’ve had in at least 40 years.”

At our current burn rate, the deficit will amount to fifteen-and-a-half percent of the nation’s total gross domestic product. That share of GDP makes this year’s deficit, the fourth largest in history, behind only three years of borrowing to pay for the costs of fighting World War Two. The good news is – the cost of borrowing that money is low. But that could change – and therein lies the problem.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is under fire for trying to take credit for being the Decider in Chief when it came to the development of the Covid vaccine. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In a recent CNN interview, Fauci claimed making the decision to go forward with the vaccine was quote – the best decision that I’ve ever made as the director of the Institute.” Not so fast. Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows told Newsmax TV that Fauci was skeptical of a vaccine and told Trump it may take five years to develop one.

“We already have hundreds of millions of people that have gotten the vaccine because President Trump refused to listen to Dr Fauci and pressed not only me but many others in the administration to move forward,” explained Meadows. “To hear Dr. Fauci say is the best decision he’s ever made is extremely disingenuous.”

It’s good to hear members of the Trump team push back against continued attempts by the media to strip the former president of his accomplishments.

Democrats appear to be moving ahead with an effort that could overturn the results of an Iowa House race. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The state of Iowa has already certified the election of Republican Marionette Miller Meeks. And she has already been sworn into Congress. But now her Democratic challenger wants the House to overrule the state and seat her instead. The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel says a lot of moderate Democrats are concerned they will face enormous blowback if they move ahead with this steal.

“They’re warning about what an incredibly dangerous precedent is set, because it’s just a fact we have a lot of close elections these days,” Strassel said. “And if you’re going to go down the road of saying whoever’s the majority party can just seat whomever they want and overrule state election officials. There’s going to be payback down the road.”

The House panel considering this case is majority Democrats and will likely recommend that the race be overturned.
