Moderna is set to put its COVID-19 vaccine into phase three clinical trials on July 27 and is manufacturing stocks in advance of a hoped-for approval by the Food and Drug Administration. “These Phase 1 data demonstrate that vaccination with mRNA-1273 elicits a robust immune response across all dose levels and clearly support the choice of 100 µg in a prime and boost regimen as the optimal dose for the Phase 3 study,” Moderna chief medical officer Dr. Tal Zaks said in a statement on July 14. That certainly sounds good. But is it false hope? After all, there has never been such a coronavirus vaccine for humans ever produced. Not for SARS. Not for MERS. Not for the common cold. And sadly not for COVID-19 — yet. So, what if there is no safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 ever developed? How do states, businesses and schools reopen in the event there is no vaccine? One thing’s for certain, we cannot stay locked up forever. Kids need to go to school. Millions of Americans need to get back to work. While we should be hopeful that the vaccine will be safe and effective, we need to start debating now rather than later what the alternative world looks like. What do you think?

Former Vice President Joe Biden reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S from the World Health Organization (WHO), following that group uncritically repeating China’s false claims in early mid-January that there was no human-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 pandemic, says “On my first day as President, I will rejoin the [World Health Organization] and restore our leadership on the world stage.” On Jan. 14, WHO sided with China in saying there was no human-to-human transmission of COVID-19, and again on Feb. 3 when it came out against Trump’s Jan. 31 travel restrictions against China. The whole time, Biden was opposing travel bans from China, calling them “xenophobic” and “hysterical”. Do you think the U.S. should be kowtowing to WHO and Beijing?

President Donald Trump has two major advantages politically in 2020 presidential election over former Vice President Joe Biden: incumbency and enthusiasm. Since 1948, in 73 percent of the cases where the incumbent president had served one term, he was reelected. However, that number rises to 88 percent if one considers only cases of incumbent parties in their first term in the White House for reelection. On enthusiasm, in a June poll by Economist/YouGov, 68 percent of Trump supporters say they are enthusiastic about voting for him versus only 31 percent of Biden supporters who say they are enthusiastic. 49 percent of Biden voters say they merely satisfied but not enthusiastic, 15 percent say dissatisfied but not upset and 3 percent say they are upset. Whereas, with Trump, just 26 say they are satisfied but not enthusiastic, 5 percent say dissatisfied but not upset and 2 percent say they are upset. In the same poll, among Biden supporters, only 35 percent say they are voting for Biden, whereas 62 percent say they are voting against Trump. For Trump supporters, 81 percent say they are voting for Trump, and just 18 percent say they are voting against Biden. On those counts, so far, this election is Trump’s to lose. What do you think?

Another 630,000 Americans came off continuing unemployment claims the week ending June 27, according to the latest unadjusted data from the U.S. Department of Labor, proving President Donald Trump is right about the economy rapidly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic state-based shutdowns. Since the week ending May 9, unadjusted continuing unemployment claims have dropped from 22.8 million to 16.8 million the week ending June 27, a massive turnaround of 6 million Americans who temporarily found themselves on unemployment benefits but then rapidly came off of it on a net basis. Really, the number is greater than that because the overall drop of 630,000 came the same week initial claims came in at about 1.4 million, indicating more than 2 million people found jobs that week, with the 1.4 million as an offset. That type of churn has been going on for weeks. When coupled with the monthly jobs data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, where anywhere from 7.8 million to 8.8 million Americans have found jobs the past two months, the worst of the pandemic-related shutdowns are past us, and more Americans are returning to work every week than are leaving it. No wonder top Democratic officials are quietly dreading an economic recovery. What do you think? _

Voters need to know how and why the Obama-Biden administration was spying on its political opponents, the opposition party, the Trump campaign, in the days before the election on false charges of being foreign agents, and why the investigation was secretly carried over into the Trump administration afterward on the most specious of grounds. This is not merely a sad state of affairs with a two-tiered justice system, one for Republicans and another for Democrats that makes untouchable. This a mortal danger to our constitutional republic and the two-party system and appears the tip of the spear in a bid for one-party rule and to deny the American people their choice from 2016. The number of daily deaths from the China-originated COVID-19 pandemic continues to drop from its peak in May, when deaths topped 2,700 on certain days, to 671 on July 2, even as the number of confirmed cases sees a temporary increase as several states proceed with reopening from their shutdowns. The biggest reason for this is that the true number of cases continues to fall from its peak at the end of March, according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) model. Estimated COVID-19 cases reached almost 250,000 a day on March 29 and have fallen all the way to an estimated 79,000 today. Similarly, hospital usage is slightly elevated in the past month but is nowhere near the peak that was seen in April. So it’s more fake news, with outlets leaving out the most important part, which is that even with the current slight uptick in confirmed cases, the pandemic of actual cases peaked more than three months ago. Thankfully, the mortality rate is falling. The virus’ impact is bad enough, why does the media need to lie about it?
