But, of course, most non-politicians understand that debts have to be repaid. So how’s 1.9 trillion dollar covid bailout bill going to work out for us? Trump senior economist Kevin Hassett has made some reasonable estimates about how much of the debt will be paid by those Americans of varying income groups, based on the current progressive tax system. He estimates: Those with incomes between $40,000 and $50,000 would pay about $9,000, while those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 would have to fork over $16,000. That rises to $27,000 for incomes between $75,000 and $100,000, and $51,000 for incomes between $100,000 and $200,000. Now that $1,400 of “free money” per person doesn’t sound like such a bargain, does it?

The Biden team is trying to make America believe there is only a “challenge” at the border. But the facts speak for themselves. Thousands of migrants are crossing daily and recently leaked photos show deplorable conditions at a facility in Donna, Texas.

The filibuster is just one of 44 standing rules in the Senate. Each is designed to enhance the rights of the individual senators, at the expense of the majority. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen.

Senator Mitch McConnell said if Democrats remove the filibuster rule, it may lead to a scorched earth policy when Republicans regain the majority. He says conservatives wouldn’t just erase every liberal change that hurt the country, they would pass conservative policies with zero input from the other side.

McConnell said, “How about this, nationwide right to work, or working America defunding Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities on day one, a whole new era of domestic energy production, sweeping new protections for conscience, and the right to life of the unborn.”

The filibuster isn’t the problem. The Senate isn’t broken. All that’s really standing in the way of good legislation is a Democratic majority unwilling to compromise on any aspect of their radical agenda.

Democrats snuck a provision into their nearly 2-trillion dollar Covid bailout bill prohibiting states from cutting taxes for 4 years if they accept any Covid money. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Steve Moore is a former economic adviser for the Trump administration. He says many states have budget surpluses and want to return that money to the taxpayers.

Steve Moore: “I’ve never seen anything like this in a piece of legislation I don’t think it’s constitutional. I’m not a constitutional scholar, but how can the federal government tell the states how they spend their money, what they can do with their tax codes, again it gets back to this point that the Democrats don’t want these red states to be cutting their taxes, and using that as an incentive for people to leave states like New York and New Illinois and going to places like Florida, Texas.

Moore said Nebraska, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Utah are all looking at eliminating their income tax to become more competitive, but the Covid bailout slams the brakes on that – saying, You cannot cut your taxes.

South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham says a trio of Democratic bills passed by the House could radically change America. Graham called out the $1.9 trillion COVID stimulus bill noting that ninety percent of it has nothing to do with COVID. The legislation will forgive loans for farmers but only if they’re – quote – socially disadvantaged, if you’re African-American, some other minority, but if you’re a white person – no forgiveness. Graham also attacked H.R. 1, a bill that would legalize election fraud and abuse — calling it open borders for voting. Graham said under this measure, there would be no verification of who you are. Mail-in voting run rampant. Finally, the senator took aim at the Equality Act – a bill that does away with the distinction between being man and woman in the law. Biological boys will start playing in girls sports and if you’re a religious organization this bill would strip you of religious protections. Ebay this week announced it will purge the listing of six disputed Dr. Seuss books, even as it continues to allow the listing and sale of works such as Hitler’s antisemitic Nazi manifesto “Mein Kampf.” Hitler’s infamous vitriolic autobiography foreshadows his eventual attempt to exterminate the Jewish people in Europe. Also readily available on the site is the book “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” an anti-semitic conspiracy theory book that purported to reveal a Jewish plot for world domination. Bidders on eBay can also purchase “The Planter’s Northern Bride,” a U.S. pro-slavery novel as well as “Race Crossing in Jamaica,” a book of racist pseudoscience by the eugenicist Charles Davenport. Banned or challenged books are a common cultural flashpoint in the U.S., though it remains relatively rare for publishers to cease printing popular works as did Seuss Enterprises.
