Justice Roberts Mocks Biden Solicitor

In last Friday’s Supreme Court hearing over the constitutionality of President Biden’s OSHA vaccine mandates for employers with over one-hundred workers and healthcare workers, Chief Justice John Roberts appeared to mock Biden’s solicitor general when she claimed Congress gave the federal government authority for the vax mandates when it created OSHA in 1970.

“That was 50 years ago that you’re saying that Congress acted. I don’t think it had COVID in mind. That was almost closer to the Spanish flu than it is to today’s problem. I understand the idea that agencies are more expert than Congress. I understand that they can move more quickly than Congress, but this is something that the federal government has never done before, right, mandated vaccine coverage?”

From our perspective, the federal government has no business determining who can work based on their vax status.

Capital Police: We Weren’t Prepared

The new Capitol Police Chief testified in a Senate hearing this week that next time his men and women are tested – they’ll be better prepared. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. New Chief Thomas Manger is focused on improving intelligence gathering and manpower. He told senators that it’s not a matter of if, but when Congress is tested again.

“But what will be different is that we will be paying much more attention to the information that we gather ahead of time. We will be putting together a better plan. We will be getting the help that we need pre-planned, here, on campus, before we need it. Not making panicked calls later on.”
During the Capitol breach last year, many officers were left to fend off the pro-Trump activists without helmets, face shields and gas masks that would have better protected them in the melee. The Senate’s twenty-twenty-two appropriations bill would provide the department with $606.6 million, a $91 million increase over the current fiscal year.

Has Joe Biden Already Gone?

Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning says Joe Biden’s profound failure of leadership in Afghanistan warrants a serious discussion about his ability to lead and remain in office.

Manning also looks at the consequences of Biden’s Green New Deal. They’re not good!

“Removing a president from office can be very painful for a country, but the long term damage Biden is doing may be worse than the short term pain of removing him from office,” Manning said.

DeSantis vs Biden: Who Handled COVID Better?

On the same day President Biden held a news conference to basically tell everyone to live in fear of COVID, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held his own news conference with an entirely different message. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen.

President Biden: “And for parents of kids who are too young to be vaccinated, surround your kids with people who are vaccinated.”

Gov. DeSantis: “Man, you can’t let go down that road because that is a road there just never going to be able to get out of that rut and it is just going to continue to hurt a lot of people and it aint going to be able to do anything to slow down or to stop an incredibly contagious airborne virus. I mean, come on!”

Governor DeSantis is right. We cannot live in fear of this virus – we have to deal with it rationally – which means – live your life and make risk assessments for yourself – just as you have always done with every other aspect of life.

Sen. Marshall: Biden’s ‘Solutions’ Are a Nightmare!

Kansas Senator Roger Marshall says President Biden’s big government overreach is to blame for the growing sense of unease and misery many Americans are experiencing. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Here’s Marshall on Fox News with Jason Chaffitz:
“So when you are a socialist, you see every problem as a nail, and the only solution you have is a big sledge hammer and when you are a big-government socialistic government, you see every problem and you try to hit that with a sledge hammer , then there’s collateral damage creating four more problems. And then you try to take care of those four problems and you create sixteen more problems. So we see a compounding of errors now and when you look at these issues you can’t look at them in silos. There is always overlap, so whether it’s COVID and their mandates impacting the military, how it’s impacting your healthcare workers, or how its impacting national security, so we’re seeing a compounding of errors right now by this administration.”
Marshall says lawmakers can turn things around by getting more people back to work and reversing Biden’s disastrous energy policies.

Can GOP Pull It Together for Mid-Terms?

Republicans see an opportunity to set a governing agenda to contrast with what they say is an increasingly rudderless Democratic-run Washington, but the effort has not yet coalesced. But will their priorities be in line with what conservatives want? Richard Manning looks at what the GOP leaders want to run on and offers them a warning for the mid-term elections.
