Unemployment: 9.2%

The unemployment rate for June of 2011 increased to 9.2%. Only 18,000 non-farm jobs were added in the month of June–far fewer than the projections that called for upwards of 90,000 jobs being created.

The rate of 9.2% is the highest unemployment has been since December of 2010.

On top of all this, David Plouffe, a senior adviser to Obama, believes that unemployment will not be an issue in the 2012 election!

UPDATE: ALG President Bill Wilson issued the following statement about the increased unemployment rate:

“Today’s unemployment report is further evidence that Obama’s continuing war on America’s free enterprise system is destroying our nation’s real job creators.  It is time for this President to end his love affair with trillion-and-a-half-dollar deficits and higher taxes on those who produce jobs.  Obama should immediately direct his agencies to return their budgets to Fiscal Year 2007 levels, end the NLRB’s crippling drive to force unionization on private sector employees, and stop the nonsense of attempting to raise taxes on those who produce jobs.

“Obama’s economic policies have failed, and our nation needs to change course now, or else, Obama’s 9.2% unemployment rate may become the new normal, and that is bad for our nation and the rest of the world, which depends upon a productive, vibrant U.S. economy.”
