Obama’s Campaign against the Truth Presses On

  • Despite the wide smiles, cheerful waves and positive rhetoric that have been oh-so-ubiquitous throughout the duration of the Democratic National Convention, the Obama campaign is secretly outraged and panicking to the point of hysteria. In fact, the best word to describe it would be pandemonium.

    The cat is officially out of the bag.

    And, in spite of the Obama campaign’s best efforts to put it back in the bag, this particular cat is running amok and making an awful mess of things.

    We are talking, of course, about Bill Ayers, the unrepentant communist terrorist of the 60s and 70s with whom Barack Obama has had friendly relations for over 10 years. Slowly but surely, the story is becoming more and more widespread and Barack Obama is growing more and more desperate in his efforts to squelch the truth.

    It all started when the American Issues Project released this ad, scrutinizing Obama’s relationship with Ayers and asking voters to learn a bit more about Barack Obama before making up their minds about him. In response, the Barack Obama and his supporters retorted with a multi-pronged Orwellian assault on the ad, the creator of ad, and the local television stations which chose to run the ad.

    In fact, they even went far as to call upon the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute the nonprofit group itself and the ad’s main financier, Harold Simmons. Ed Martin, the president of the American Issues Project, reacted as follows:

    “Having failed in its attempts to get our legal, factual and fully-supported ad off the air, Barack Obama’s campaign now wants to put our donors in prison for exercising their right to free speech…These over-the-top bullying tactics are reminiscent of the kind of censorship one would see in a Stalinist dictatorship, with the only difference being that those guys generally had to wait until they were in power to throw people who disagreed with them into jail.”

    Much like the ad itself, Mr. Martin’s comments are brutally honest, sharp and to the point. The truth is that Obama’s campaign against free-speech would make Big Brother proud. The offensive doesn’t stop here, however.

    Just yesterday Barack Obama opened up a second front in his war against the 1st Amendment, this time turning his guns toward talk radio and conservative talk-show host Stanley Kurtz. Kurtz has come under intense fire lately for devoting two hours of his talk show to discussion regarding Barack Obama and his ties to Bill Ayers.

    The Obama campaign responded by promptly sending out a call-to-arms e-mail which urged the Obama Disciples to not stand idly by:

    “Tonight, WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears. He’s currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers.”

    Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse…

    Kurtz has been using his absurd TV appearances in an awkward and dishonest attempt to play the terrorism card. His current ploy is to embellish the relationship between Barack and Ayers…

    It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves.”

    The most ironic and telling aspect of this entire fiasco, however, is the fact that the Obama campaign has done virtually nothing to refute the actual claims regarding Ayers and Obama. It is almost laughable:

    “At the very least, [WGN] should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz’s lies.”

    Let WGN refute Kurtz’s lies, they say, because the Obama campaign certainly can’t.

    Ok, so they have apparently refuted the one of Kurtz’s points about Ayers recruiting Obama to the board of the Annenberg Challenge. Wonderful. Great job. Now will the Obama Campaign please stand up and refute these facts?

    • Obama has actively courted Ayers’ leftist political clout over the years;

    • Ayer’s had a meet-and-greet fundraiser for Obama at that start of Obama’s political career in mid-90s;

    • Ayers and Obama served together on a number of left wing-boards, including that of the leftist not-for-profit Woods Fund of Chicago;

    • Obama’s very own website has described Ayers as “respectable” and “mainstream.”

    So, Mr. Obama, where is the substantial counter evidence to those facts?

    Unfortunately for Obama and those heralding his flawless messianic essence, there is no counter evidence. Because these points are all true.

    Aside from these Stalinist efforts to silence this hard-hitting truth, Barack Obama has also retaliated by doing the very thing he accuses his critics of doing to him: character assassination. Just look at the text of the e-mail the Obama campaign sent to its supporters regarding WGN radio and Stanley Kurtz. The e-mail, barely a page in length, managed to squeeze in three personal jabs at Mr. Kurtz, calling him a “right-wing hatchet man,” a “smear-merchant,” and a “slimy character assassin.”

    And if that wasn’t enough, consider Jerome Corsi, author of the critical—and best-selling—book “Obama Nation”, of whom the Obama campaign referred to as a “fringe bigot.”

    It is painfully clear.

    The Obama campaign is unraveling before our very eyes and all because of yet another insidious and diabolical relationship that Barack Obama simply can no longer hide.
