Lobby Day for Labor: A coalition of union interests is descending on Washington today to lobby lawmakers in support of the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as card check, which would make it easier for unions to organize. Some 300 activists from 15 states will make their appeal. The organizing group, Americans Rights at Work, said the activists are not union members but people who “believe wholeheartedly” in EFCA. Iowa Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin will kick off the event which will lobby lawmakers from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

March On: The anti-tax group FreedomWorks is hosting a news conference this afternoon to preview events leading up to the Sept. 12 March on Washington in protest of the Obama administration’s economic policies. (Think Tea-Baggers) Meanwhile in the states, a similar effort, the American Liberty Tour, kicks off today in Sacramento, Calif. and will stop in 18 cities in 12 states between now and Oct. 13 to rally the grassroots. “Here’s the message for Barack Obama: ‘We have just begun to fight,” said spokesman Adam Bitely.
