  • Appointment Watch: Olvarria and Martinez

The mainstream media continue to ignore President Obama’s appointment of bizarre personnel to run the government. Personnel is policy. That being the case the American people need to know about these appointments. This week we look another couple of Obama appointees. These are not isolated incidents or an occasional bad apple. These folks are representative of the appointments he is making with little or no push back from the Senate during the confirmation process.

Esther Olvarria, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Department of Homeland Security

    • Olvarria’s past includes working for the far-left group the Center for American Progress.
    • Ovarria has advocated for increases in immigration and resolving the status of the “undocumented.”
    • Olvarria’s critics see her appointment as giving “the pro-amnesty side something.”
    • Olivarria was appointed to her position, which does not require Senate confirmation, on February 23, 2009.

    Vilma Martinez, Ambassador to Argentina

    • Martinez, despite a serious lack of foreign policy experience, was nominated by President Obama to be the Ambassador to Argentina.
    • Martinez past work included founding the Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund.
    • Martinez resigned from a Los Angeles city commission after becoming uncomfortable with filing the required conflict-of-interest statement.
    • Martinez was confirmed, without one Senator objecting, by the Senate on July 24, 2009.

These are just a sample of the people President Obama is placing in positions of power within his Administration. If you want more information on these three and many others, please visit: http://www.getliberty.org/content.asp?pl=187&contentid=187

Next week we will examine two more. Those who are interested in exclusive information before it reaches the public, please contact Don@getliberty.org
