Appointment Watch: Butler and Feldblum

The mainstream media continue to ignore President Obama’s appointment of bizarre personnel to run the government. Personnel is policy. That being the case the American people need to know about these appointments. This week we look another couple of Obama appointees. These are not isolated incidents or an occasional bad apple. These folks are representative of the appointments he is making with little or no push back from the Senate during the confirmation process.
Louis B. Butler, Judge, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin
- Butler (“Loophole Louie”) has twice been rejected by Wisconsin voters for a position on the state Supreme Court.
- Butler received an appointment to the Wisconsin Supreme Court when President Bush elevated a sitting justice to the federal bench.
- While on the Wisconsin Supreme Court Butler joined with the liberal majority to dramatically alter tort law.
- Butler’s nomination is pending before the full Senate.
Chai R. Feldblum, Commissioner, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
- Feldblum believes that when a conflict exists between personal identity and 1st Amendment freedoms that personal identity must win.
- Feldblum has advocated for workplace flexibility initiatives that among other things, “allow for part-time work without suffering disproportionate economic or job-related penalties, [and allow employees to] control the timing of one’s work…”
- Feldblum was a lead advisor in drafting the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Feldblum’s nomination is pending in committee.
