Recovery Summer and Stimulus: Wisconsin

Continuing on the Recovery Summer and Stimulus: State by State, we head to Wisconsin for a special Labor Day Weekend edition in honor of Obama, Labor Secretary Solis and Big Labor Union Boss Richard Trumka gracing the state of Wisconsin with their presence on Labor Day.

Quick Wisconsin facts:

  • In January of 2009, the unemployment rate in Wisconsin was 7.1%. As of June 30, 2010, the unemployment rate was 7.9%–a net increase of 0.8% (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)
  • According to Recovery.gov, Wisconsin has received 6,145 awards. This has resulted in $3,686,828,830 being spent to create/save 16,352.05* jobs (Source: Recovery.gov)
  • As of June 2010, the labor force in Wisconsin has decreased by 61,109 people since January of 2009.  (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)
  • According to the Recovery Summer Map, Wisconsin boasts zero “Summer of Recovery” projects! I wonder if Obama, Solis or Trumka will mention any “Recovery Summer” successes in the state on Labor Day?
  • The number of people employed in Wisconsin has fallen by 83,066 people! (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)
  • The Obama administration projected the change in jobs by December 31, 2010 to be +70,000 jobs. To date, Wisconsin has lost 75,500 jobs. (Source: Ways & Means Republicans)

The employment trend in Wisconsin has not been good. From the time Obama took office in January of 2009 through January of 2010, Wisconsin faced an ever increasing unemployment situation.  Through the first half of 2010, Wisconsin appeared to be heading towards a “recovery”, but that was short lived. As the “Summer of Recovery” began, unemployment began to increase as more people lost jobs. (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Has the Recovery Act done anything for Wisconsin? No.

Has “Recovery Summer” done anything for Wisconsin? No.

As Obama, Labor Secretary Solis and Big Labor Union Boss Richard Trumka make their way to Wisconsin on Labor Day, they need to be able to answer the tough questions. Why has unemployment increased even after Wisconsin received “stimulus” money? What happened to the “Summer of Recovery”? Why doesn’t the “Summer of Recovery” map show any projects in Wisconsin? Does anyone in Washington D.C. have a clue what is going on in Wisconsin?

While Obama, Solis and Trumka push Big Government spending, the results are in and show that their method of “recovery” has failed–and it has failed the people of Wisconsin.
