Top Romney Adviser: He can reset his positions after the primary

Mitt RomneyIf you were worried that Mitt Romney will change his positions on key issues yet again, this interview on CNN this morning will make you question Mitt’s stances on the issues once more. One of Romney’s top advisers, Eric Fehrnstrom, says that we can see a “reset” on Mitt’s stances on the issues coming in the months ahead:

CNN HOST: Is there a concern that Santorum and Gingrich might force the governor to tack so far to the right it would hurt him with moderate voters in the general election.

ROMNEY ADVISER ERIC FEHRNSTROM: Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again.

It’s no secret that party nominees shift to the middle after the primaries. After all, the name of the game is winning the median voter. But when a candidate is roundly slammed for being a shape shifter on every issue for years on end, you would think that his campaign would keep their mouth shut on things like this.
