Rand Paul filibusters Obama’s pick for CIA Director

UPDATE: Rand Paul’s filibuster concluded after nearly 13 hours. The filibuster has brought much needed light to the Federal government’s drone program that Attorney General Eric Holder said could be used to constitutionally kill U.S. citizens on U.S. soil… Scary stuff. Rand did the right thing and shed much needed light on this.

Rand Paul has launched a filibuster against John Brennan, Obama’s pick to head the CIA. The filibuster comes in response to an admission from Attorney General Eric Holder that the Obama administration could carry out a drone strike against American citizens legally. The filibuster began at 11:47 AM. Click here to watch live on CSPAN.

Here are some key quotes from Rand Paul’s filibuster so far:

“I will speak today until the president responds and says, ‘No, we won’t kill Americans in cafes. No, we won’t kill you at home at night.'”

“No American should ever be killed in their house without warrant and some kind of aggressive behavior by them.”

“To be bombed in your sleep? There’s nothing American about that . . . [Obama] says trust him  because he hasn’t done it yet. He says he doesn’t intend to do so, but he might. Mr. President, that’s not good enough . . . so I’ve come here to speak for as long as I can to draw attention to something that I find to really be very disturbing.”

“I will not sit quietly and let him shred the Constitution.”

“No person will be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process,”
