It is outrageous that Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) attacked President Donald Trump’s Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi for planning to weaponize the Department of Justice (DOJ) against the President’s political opponents in her recent Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Dick Durbin turned a blind eye for the past decade as the Justice Department singled out and abused Trump supporters and the President himself over politically manufactured charges. Suddenly Durbin is concerned about the “weaponization” of the DOJ? Give me a break.
This is also the same Dick Durbin who sought to intimidate opponents of his legislative scheme to provide a pot of credit card fee gold over to his friends at woke retailers like Target, by changing the credit card processing fee structure and pricing.
Those, like Chicago-based United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, who pointed to the lethal impact the Durbin bill would have on frequent flyer mile programs, bought themselves a Congressional investigation by the Durbin chaired Senate Judiciary Committee.
While Durbin denied that frequent flyer programs would be destroyed, he had the audacity to launch an investigation into those who opposed his bill.
Durbin’s reprisal led a Senate aide to tell Breitbart, “This entire investigation is happening only because the Durbin credit card bill isn’t passing, so this is his revenge. Durbin and his allies are using the administrative state as a weapon, just like the Biden regime has weaponized every agency against Elon Musk for failing to toe the line.”
“It’s beyond inappropriate,” the aide continued. “It’s more fitting for a banana republic than America.”
In the past decade it has become common for the left to imprint their penchant for going after their enemy lists using the full power of the federal government onto conservatives and Trump in particular.
Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi answered the charge succinctly by telling the committee that she will “follow the law.”
What a concept! If only the Democrats had been constrained by this simple idea, the nation would have been spared the entire fake Russian collusion scandal at the very least. And with Durbin no longer holding the gavel of the Senate Judiciary Committee, his ability to engage in raw intimidation against those who legitimately oppose bad legislation he proposes has been mitigated.
As Durbin and his allies cast aspersions against Bondi and other Trump appointees, they should take a quick look at the Book of Matthew in the Bible where in Chapter 7, verses 3-5, the Apostle of Christ asks, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
