Americans should brace themselves for several years of higher inflation. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. That’s according to top economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal. They expect the robust post-pandemic economic recovery to fuel brisk price increases for a while. The survey found economists forecast an average annual increase of two-point-five-eight percent over the next two years, putting inflation at levels last seen in 1993. Higher inflation for several years would ripple through the economy in various ways. Consumers could find their household budgets squeezed. Higher borrowing costs could weigh on stock values and could crimp growth in interest-rate-sensitive industries like housing. Higher inflation can also make it harder for businesses to plan longer-term investments. This is further evidence that the economy does not need Joe Biden’s massive so-called infrastructure spending bill — that would just add to the rising inflation. A socialist mayoral candidate in Buffalo says police, quote, ‘re-victimize’ people and wants to send social workers on emergency calls. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In addition, India Walton, the Democrat candidate for mayor, said she wants to cut the funding to the police force. Walton says she plans to reallocate seven-and-a-half million dollar of police funds to social programs. Quote, It would go to a lot of the things that we talked about just now, into ensuring that people have access to mental health services, that communities have the resources that they need to thrive, things like educational assistance for our young people, job training, skills training. And these same people wonder why crime is skyrocketing on so many of our Democrat-run large cities! The number of people shot in Buffalo last year increased ninety percent compared to twenty-nineteen, according to Buffalo Police Department statistics, while homicides increased forty percent. Border law enforcement offices have seen the morgue truck come and go a lot in recent years. Those crossing into the US illegally often cannot survive their journey.

The Washington Post has a story this week that implies President Trump’s adult children were more ethically challenged than Hunter Biden. The crazy thing is – it was supposed to be a straight news story, not an opinion piece, on the questionable ethics of Hunter Biden’s new lucrative career in art – despite having ZERO professional training in that field. The reporter notes that President Biden is committed to “reversing his predecessor’s ethical laxity, especially regarding family members.” The Trump family members never took a dime in salary from taxpayer. The reporter goes on to claim Trump’s children went beyond modern-day norms; his elder daughter and her husband spent four years as top White House advisers at the same time his two oldest sons ran the family business. A federal judge has struck down Democrats sneaky attempt to ban state tax cuts. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The Democrats’ COVID stimulus plan prevented states from cutting taxes to revive their economies. We were among the first to warn you of this – so naturally, we’re pleased to report that Ohio attorney general Dave Yost won a victory in federal court late last week. U.S. District Court Judge Douglas Cole granted an injunction against any Treasury Department enforcement of the provision of the $1.9 T American Rescue Plan Act that prohibits states from using funds under the act “directly or indirectly” to cut taxes. Judge Cole wrote: “The Court finds that the Tax Mandate exceeds Congress’s power under the Constitution. The Court further finds that Ohio has met the conditions for injunctive relief to prevent the ongoing harm that this violation is causing. Thus, the Court PERMANENTLY ENJOINS the Secretary from enforcing the Tax Mandate against Ohio.” For more check us out at the DailyTorch.com.

A new poll finds only thirty-six percent of young adults are proud of being American. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The Issues & Insights and Tippinsights poll found that young adults ages eighteen to twenty-four are the group least likely to say they are proud to be American. That compares with fifty-nine percent of Americans ages twenty-five to forty-four who says they are proud and seventy five percent of adults ages forty five to sixty four. Nearly nine in ten Americans over age sixty-five say they are proud Americans. Conservatives were also much more proud to be Americans than moderates or liberals; 81% of conservatives said they were proud compared to 66% of moderates and 55% of liberals. These numbers do not bode well for the future of our republic. If the citizens don’t take pride in their country, they will elect leaders like the ones in office today — people who seek to “transform” our country and otherwise dismantle our institutions. The truth about Vice President Kamala Harris’ is not pretty. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. According to a report in Politico, her office is reportedly an “abusive environment” where staffers are “thrown under the bus” when things go wrong. So says 22 current and former staffers who spoke on condition of anonymity. Much of the ire is aimed at Harris’ chief of staff, Tina Flournoy. Flournoy allegedly routinely blames lower-level staffers when initiatives fall through and often ignores input from staff, the sources told Politico “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported.” A spokesperson for the Biden administration and Harris have pushed back on reports of toxicity within the vice president’s office. As the vice president continues to look for a connection with the American people, like a 20-something on their sixth Tinder date, her increasing separation from the population’s interests adds to the daunting path to 2022 and 2024 that Democratic leadership are set to face.
