Dr. Anthony Fauci is under fire for trying to take credit for being the Decider in Chief when it came to the development of the Covid vaccine. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In a recent CNN interview, Fauci claimed making the decision to go forward with the vaccine was quote – the best decision that I’ve ever made as the director of the Institute.” Not so fast. Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows told Newsmax TV that Fauci was skeptical of a vaccine and told Trump it may take five years to develop one.

“We already have hundreds of millions of people that have gotten the vaccine because President Trump refused to listen to Dr Fauci and pressed not only me but many others in the administration to move forward,” explained Meadows. “To hear Dr. Fauci say is the best decision he’s ever made is extremely disingenuous.”

It’s good to hear members of the Trump team push back against continued attempts by the media to strip the former president of his accomplishments.

Democrats appear to be moving ahead with an effort that could overturn the results of an Iowa House race. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The state of Iowa has already certified the election of Republican Marionette Miller Meeks. And she has already been sworn into Congress. But now her Democratic challenger wants the House to overrule the state and seat her instead. The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel says a lot of moderate Democrats are concerned they will face enormous blowback if they move ahead with this steal.

“They’re warning about what an incredibly dangerous precedent is set, because it’s just a fact we have a lot of close elections these days,” Strassel said. “And if you’re going to go down the road of saying whoever’s the majority party can just seat whomever they want and overrule state election officials. There’s going to be payback down the road.”

The House panel considering this case is majority Democrats and will likely recommend that the race be overturned.

Hoping to travel ? You might need a vaccine passport. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop a so-called vaccine passport that would allow Americans to prove they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. A growing number of companies — from cruise lines to sports teams — say they will require proof of vaccination before opening their doors again. Dr. Bryan Ardis of Texas said no American should be forced to get a vaccine to travel, work, or attend sporting events. He is concerned about privacy as well as government transparency.

“We as Americans need to have transparency to make full and informed decisions that we know are best for our families and our children,” Ardis said.

But, of course, most non-politicians understand that debts have to be repaid. So how’s 1.9 trillion dollar covid bailout bill going to work out for us? Trump senior economist Kevin Hassett has made some reasonable estimates about how much of the debt will be paid by those Americans of varying income groups, based on the current progressive tax system. He estimates: Those with incomes between $40,000 and $50,000 would pay about $9,000, while those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 would have to fork over $16,000. That rises to $27,000 for incomes between $75,000 and $100,000, and $51,000 for incomes between $100,000 and $200,000. Now that $1,400 of “free money” per person doesn’t sound like such a bargain, does it?

Politico has a shocking report that in 2018 the Secret Service may have inappropriately inserted itself into a bizarre Hunter Biden gun incident which could involve a felony crime by the president’s son. Secret Service agents asked the owner of the gun store where Hunter bought the gun for the paperwork involving the sale. The gun store owner said no, suspecting that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter’s ownership of the missing gun. Any involvement by the Secret Service on behalf of the Biden family would be inappropriate interference in an incident that was already being investigated by Delaware State Police and the FBI. Hunter claimed on his background check that he was not an unlawful drug user, when in fact, five years earlier he the Navy Reserve discharged him after he tested positive for cocaine. Lying on a firearms background check form is a felony.
