Last week Biden’s Treasury Department released a plan to spend $80 billion dollars to beef up IRS staff to go after what they call “the wealthy” – families making more than 4-hundred-thousand dollars a year. Biden thinks he can get an additional 7-hundred billion dollars in tax collections with this scheme. But many tax experts say that number is way too optimistic. The truth is – the money is always in the middle class. So, don’t believe Biden for one minute when he tells you the “wealthy” will pay for their crazy giveaways. First that’s offensive, because it is just another attempt to divide Americans – them versus us. Rich versus poor. That’s not who we are as Americans. That’s how third world countries operate. President Joe Biden had a delayed response to a major freeze in Texas yet did not receive the criticism he would have if he were say, George W. Bush responding to Hurricane Katrina. Now he says he wants to raise disaster spending through FEMA. Oh yeah, he will actually double it!

Walgreens has closed 17 stores in Democrat-run San Francisco due to rampant shoplifting problems created by voters. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. If you love watching Democrats get exactly what they voted for, you’ll love this. Several years ago, idiots in California basically legalized shoplifting. Proposition 47, no longer made it a felony to steal if the value of what you steal doesn’t exceed $950. Instead of being punished as a felon, you are hit with a misdemeanor, and in many cases not even that. As you can imagine, this has turned into a free-for-all for shoplifters and a stone-cold nightmare for retailers. The result? According to the far-left San Francisco Chronicle… “Out of control’: Organized crime drives S.F. shoplifting, closing 17 Walgreens in five years.” Here’s how one Board of Supervisor put it: “This has been out of control. People are scared to go into these stores — seniors, people with disabilities, children. It’s just happening brazenly. To which, I can only say – not my problem. Tech companies that made Black Lives Matter pledges have fewer Black employees than companies that kept their mouths shut. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In another case of liberal hypocrisy, a new study finds that tech companies that lectured the rest of us on equity, white privilege, etc, don’t practice what they preach. Turns out companies that didn’t jump on the BLM bandwagon are actually more diverse than the phonies who released public pledges to promote racial justice in the wake of George Floyd’s death last summer. The woke companies had 20% fewer Black employees on average than companies who remained silent. The finding highlights a gap between what companies say about social issues and what they do in their own workplaces. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. It’s called Projecting. It’s when you attribute your own unacceptable traits onto another. Projection allows the difficult trait to be addressed without the individual fully recognizing it in themselves. How’s the woke approach to policing and public safety working out for America’s big cities? Not so well says the Wall Street Journal. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In New York City, shootings nearly doubled and homicides almost fifty percent in 2020. So far this year felony assaults are up by 25 percent. Yet seven of the eight candidates running in the Democratic primary for Manhattan district attorney have pledged to cut the police budget or prosecute fewer suspects—or some combination of the two. Philadelphia is currently on track to set two city records: the lowest number of felony prosecutions in modern history and the highest number of homicides. Baltimore began defunding law enforcement and turning a blind eye to criminal behavior a decade ago, and since then nearly 3,000 of its residents have been murdered. No matter. In March, the city’s top prosecutor announced that “the era of ‘tough on crime’ prosecutors is over” and that her office would no longer pursue so-called minor offenses. Further evidence Covid lockdowns may have done more harm than good. With today’s ALG Minute I’m Catherine Mortensen. Pediatricians say they are seeing alarming weight gains in children and adolescents as many return for in-person visits for the first time since the pandemic began. Doctors also report increases in weight-related health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and fatty liver disease. And some children with prediabetes are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. attribute the weight gain to a loss of routine over the past year—especially with remote schooling—which has disrupted kids’ usual eating, activity and sleep habits. Kids are also often eating without supervision, with parents working from home. My own teenage son often stays up until 1 or 2 in the morning, sleeps a lot during the day — and because he’s home a lot more, he’s snacking more often. It’s a hard cycle to break. Between last September and this March records from the Department of Motor Vehicles show that more than 33-thousand New Yorkers swapped their drivers’ licenses for Florida ones. This trend shows that the American people are wise to a truth many politicians and establishment media figures still deny: Harsh lockdowns largely failed to contain COVID-19, while their disastrous economic consequences likely far outweighed any benefits. Migrating Americans have come to this realization despite the cacophony of voices insisting otherwise. Alarmist media outlets decried Georgia’s easing of harsh pandemic restrictions as – quote an experiment in human sacrifice and a death march. But today the state’s COVID mortality rate stands 30-35 percent lower than many states that enforced strict lockdowns, such as New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Similarly, many politicians predicted disaster and carnage when Texas and Mississippi decided to roll back their remaining restrictions in March. Said disaster never materialized—not even close.
