Group says Michigan reps. have bark, but lack bite

Michigan Reps. Gary Peters of Bloomfield Township, Mark Schauer of Battle Creek and Bart Stupak of Menominee are among 90 “Blue Dog,” or moderate, Democrats cited for doing little to stop the rash of high-spending bills pushed through Congress this year, according to Americans for Limited Government. The group studied the lawmakers’ votes on 12 key bills — including the $789 billion federal stimulus package, ACORN funding, Waxman-Markey carbon emission caps and the “public option” health system — and found they cast 856 “yea” votes and 207 “nay” votes, failing to muster enough opposition to defeat much of anything. “In vote after vote, the Blue Dogs have been all bark and no bite,” ALG president Bill Wilson said.
