Americans for Limited Government hit the airwaves today in Nevada and Vermont calling on Harry Reid and Patrick Leahy to vote no on Robert Chatigny when he comes up for a vote to be promoted to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Check out the ad aired in Nevada here.
Washington Examiner: Kagan is no Justice Tabula Rasa. “Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl was only half right in an observation he offered during opening statements in the confirmation hearing of President Obama’s nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Said Kohl: “We have less evidence about what sort of judge you will be than on any nominee in recent memory. Your judicial philosophy is almost invisible to us.””
$100,000 reward offered for full archive of JournoList.Andrew Breitbart has announced at BigJournalist.com that he is offering a $100,000 reward for the full archive of emails from the JournoList. The JournoList, which was created by Ezra Klein of the Washington Post, was an email list-serv of 400 left-leaning journalists that was used as a sounding board for strategy and info sharing. JournoList was recently shut down in the aftermath of the David Weigel episode.

Massive government overreach in financial bill conference. This week, at least one house of Congress is expected to vote on the Dodd-Frank conference legislation. The bill threatens to take over the nation’s financial sector, redistribute wealth on a scale never seen, levy unlimited taxes, monitor finances, seize politically disfavored firms, and bail out favored ones, all without any vote in Congress or the right to judicial review.
Change to win coalition now a major conduit for SEIU donations to ACORN. NRD Contributing Editor Kevin Mooney has the story, “An internal memo The Politico recovered last year from ACORN’s California branch shows that the organization’s leadership has recognized for some time now that its tarnished name could complicate fund raising efforts and undermine support on Capitol Hill.”
Let’s not forget Sen. Byrd’s negative legacy. Reason’s Nick Gillespie, “As the encomia mount like rotting, fly-buzzed piles of the pork-barrel spending he so systematically shoveled back to his West Virginia home, let’s not forget the late Sen. Robert Byrd’s most undeniable legacy: Undermining Confirming belief in politicians as little more than self-serving glad-handers on the hunt for more and more taxpayer money for their constituents.”
In Chicago, good riddance to gun ban that was not working – “We can debate forever about whether owning a gun makes your home a safer or a more dangerous environment — but I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it now: If you live in this city and you believe the best way to protect yourself, your family and your house is to own firearms, you should be able to do so legally.”

WSJ: U.S. blocked from withdrawing Yucca nuclear-waste bid. “Federal regulators on Tuesday denied a request by the Obama administration to withdraw an application for the first national nuclear-waste repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada.”
