They have sacrificed their livelihoods, their comfort, their happiness. Writer Dan Gelertner says Americans can fight back not just by supporting small businesses, but by rejecting covid restrictions, and helping businesses reject them. He says would should simply refuse to wear a mask. If a store owner asks you to put a mask on, tell him it doesn’t bother you if he takes his mask off. Refuse to comply and help your neighbors to refuse to comply. Stores and restaurants fear regulators fining them out of business, and that is where big conservative donors and crowd-funding campaigns must step in. Sponsor small businesses to fight. Not to pay their fines—to fight, in court. Argue disparate impact. Argue lack of equal protection. Argue exceeding constitutional authority. The Los Angeles School Board has approved a plan to cut one-third of its police budget. The money will be diverted to fund new programs under the new Black Student Achievement Plan. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The board voted to cut 133 police officers and replace them with “climate coaches.” According to the plan, the ‘climate coaches’ are trained to implement “positive school culture and climate,” use “de-escalation strategies” to resolve conflict, understand and address “implicit bias.” The board said the cut to help black students feel safer. In the months after the Covid lockdowns closed the Los Angeles schools, the district saw burglaries on school property soar 700 percent. An official with the Los Angeles School Police Officers Association said budget cuts will lead to further crime – quote — especially once it gets out into the general public that there won’t be officers responding to these incidents. It emboldens those who are willing to commit crimes.

The Biden administration has hired one of the nation’s largest ad and PR agencies to help sell it’s ‘America last’ agenda. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The company, BCW, declared said quote — As the new administration ramps up, many agencies will need to develop and launch compelling strategic communications campaigns to disseminate President Biden’s priorities, policies and objectives to the American public.BCW is already under contract with a handful of federal agencies including the VA, Commerce Department, Pentagon and Health and Human Services. Taxpayer money will be going to a Madison Avenue multinational in order to tell taxpayers how great everything is, or will be, under Joe Biden. Our tax dollars already pay for the White House Press Office as well as The Office Of Public Engagement, whose goal is to get his policies and objectives to the public. This is not a man operating with a national mandate, but a behind-the-scenes committee intent on pushing an agenda they know is unpopular.

Democratic leaders of the New York State Senate are reportedly working to strip New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo of his emergency powers in the aftermath of his failed – possibly criminal – handling of pandemic. Democratic and Republican lawmakers have been demanding answers since a top Cuomo aide admitted that the Governor’s administration hid data on senior deaths at nursing homes and long-term care facilities over fears of a Department of Justice investigation. According to The New York Times, a vote to strip the Governor of emergency powers could come as early as this week. New York Democrat lawmakers issued a statement calling for stripping Cuomo of his emergency powers.

Big Tech gets into censorship tussle with our friends down under. With today’s ALG minute, I’m catherine mortensen. Facebook announced on this week it will ban Australian media outlets and censor users within the country from sharing or viewing news articles on its service. The move comes in response to a potential Australian law that would force Google and Facebook to pay news publishers for their content.
In a statement, the tech giant said that it will block news content in the country. This is in response to Australia’s proposed Media Bargaining law, which would require Google and Facebook to compensate publishers for content. Google has also threatened to strike back against Australia, warning that it would shut down its search engine within the country should the government persist with what it calls “unworkable” legislation.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison shot back – quote – “We don’t respond to threats. and suggested that Australians could switch their search traffic to Microsoft’s Bing if Google decided to restrict access within the country.
