Thousands of San Francisco residents are banning together to stop the city from renaming 44 schools that honor so-called “racist” historical leaders — including Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. More than 7,200 people have signed an online petition slamming the school board’s controversial vote to scrap the names of former US presidents and war heroes with ties to racism or oppression. As one right-thinking resident said: “We feel that whether socialist, conservative or independent, if you honor truth in history, politics needs to be put to the side. We don’t want to erase things.” The whole point of history is to look at a person’s SIGNIFICANT achievements and contributions and honor those things — not tear them down for their faults. A country with no heroes has no guiding principles and will fail. We can and must be honest about our heroes shortcomings without denying their greatness

What a difference a decade makes. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pursues a politically driven impeachment of former President Donald Trump, a look back to the not-too-distant past shows Democrats haven’t always taken such a hard line against violent protesters in the halls of government. 10 years ago Pelosi enthusiastically supported a mob of trade unionists, teachers and assorted rabble who crowded the halls of Wisconsin’s state Capitol in Madison in 2011 to protest moves by then-Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to bring conservative values to the Badger State’s government. Throughout the month-long occupation, the liberal mob chanted slogans such as, “This is what democracy looks like and Pelosi tweeted, “I stand with the students & workers of #WI, impressive show of democracy in action. For the House speaker, neither event was a question of principle. They were both about power. And in both cases, Pelosi is choosing the course of action that will benefit the left.

Boo-frickin’-whoo New Mexico. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Oil and gas leaders in New Mexico are raising concerns over President Joe Biden’s recent executive action that put a 60-day pause on new oil and gas leases on federal land. In New Mexico, the industry accounts for nearly one-third of the state’s general fund revenues, and industry officials said even a temporary halt on leasing will hurt the state. New Mexico went big for Biden in the election — stop whining. One industry official says the economy could be in even more trouble if President Biden bans new fracking on federal property – it would wipe out 62,000 jobs in a single year. It’s hard to feel sorry for any of these blue states who will suffer under Biden’s dim bulb energy plans. He’s been a job killer his entire career. What did these people think they were getting when they voted for Biden? As a career politician, he hasn’t created a single job – ever.

CNN Fake News Anchor Jim Acosta predicts Trump will lead a fringe movement now that he is out of the White House. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Acosta said that while Trump is – quote “licking his wounds in Mar-a-Lago, he poses a threat to this country.” 75 million Americans voted for Donald Trump in November –hardly a fringe group. Instead of insulting half the country, perhaps Acosta and his colleagues in the mainstream media should just DO THEIR JOBS. Speaking of which, the Washington Post says it has no plans to keep a database of Joe Biden falsehoods. Meanwhile, ABC News analyst Matthew Dowd says the country must impeach Trump – and punish him – before we can heal. He is comparing the Trump administration to genocidal Nazi Germany and the evils of South African apartheid.
