Pediatricians say they are seeing alarming weight gains in children and adolescents as many return for in-person visits for the first time since the pandemic began. Doctors also report increases in weight-related health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and fatty liver disease. And some children with prediabetes are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. attribute the weight gain to a loss of routine over the past year—especially with remote schooling—which has disrupted kids’ usual eating, activity and sleep habits. Kids are also often eating without supervision, with parents working from home. My own teenage son often stays up until 1 or 2 in the morning, sleeps a lot during the day — and because he’s home a lot more, he’s snacking more often. It’s a hard cycle to break. Between last September and this March records from the Department of Motor Vehicles show that more than 33-thousand New Yorkers swapped their drivers’ licenses for Florida ones. This trend shows that the American people are wise to a truth many politicians and establishment media figures still deny: Harsh lockdowns largely failed to contain COVID-19, while their disastrous economic consequences likely far outweighed any benefits. Migrating Americans have come to this realization despite the cacophony of voices insisting otherwise. Alarmist media outlets decried Georgia’s easing of harsh pandemic restrictions as – quote an experiment in human sacrifice and a death march. But today the state’s COVID mortality rate stands 30-35 percent lower than many states that enforced strict lockdowns, such as New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Similarly, many politicians predicted disaster and carnage when Texas and Mississippi decided to roll back their remaining restrictions in March. Said disaster never materialized—not even close. The Biden Administration wants you to know if you are in America illegally and can’t afford a place to live — no problem — taxpayers will cover that. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge said this week the Biden administration won’t prevent illegal immigrants from access to public housing. She said the new administration will drop a Trump-era policy that ensure only U.S. citizens received public housing aid. In 2019, the Trump administration proposed tightening regulations to prevent undocumented immigrants from accessing federally subsidized housing. Then-HUD Secretary Ben Carson said the federal government needed to – quote – make certain our scarce public resources help those who are legally entitled to it. We agree. Fairness – or equity as the left likes to say – requires that we devote ourselves to legal residents who have been waiting, some for many years, for access to affordable housing. The Biden Democrat’s response to the pandemic is destroying the American work ethic. With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Last spring the politicians and epidemiologists told everyone to go home — some worked remotely, but millions simply didn’t work at all. The Wall Street Journal’s Daniel Henninger says many Americans now view life as mostly a game and seek diversions in play.
“Some examples over the past year, people sitting at home used Reddit and Robin Hood to literally play the stock for GameStop, first as a diversion, then as a substitute for work. Many of us Omers protesters were unemployed workers, They replaced the Protestant work ethic, with a more enjoyable progressive virtue ethic.”

“The attention Miss Cheney was drawing was merely keeping Mr Trump in the center of the conversation in making it harder for Republicans to focus instead on what they really want, which is to win back control of the House in 2022.”
Former president Trump is widely known to have pushed for Cheney’s removal and because of that some think this puts Trump front and center in the party. I disagree. It actually shows that party leaders in Washington are listening to the PEOPLE — instead of pandering to the insider elites. Critical Race Theory, the practice of framing political issues through the lens of race – including seemingly detached issues like infrastructure spending – has become a cornerstone of the modern Democratic Party. While the media relentlessly slammed Trump as a bigot or worse, Trump’s racially agnostic focus on “America First” principles earned him substantially higher Black and Hispanic support in 2020 than 2016, particularly among men.
