President Biden is now conceding that a tax increase is coming to pay for all of his new spending. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Initially Biden said it would only apply to those making over 4-hundred thousand dollars a year. Here’s what he told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos this week:

“Anybody making more than $400,000 will see a small to a significant tax increases. If you make less than $400,000, you won’t see one single penny in additional federal tax.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki later conceded that the $400,000 threshold was for “families,” not individuals. So if you’re a two-income household making $200,000 each, you could get whacked.

Former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes says the Democrat’s tax grab won’t stop with the wealthy.

“Big tax increases convoluting the code and hurting economic growth. All this happy talk about ‘great economy ahead,’ I take it with a grain of salt, you might say.”

The middle class is where the real money is, and sooner or later they’re coming after you.

The Biden team is trying to make America believe there is only a “challenge” at the border. But the facts speak for themselves. Thousands of migrants are crossing daily and recently leaked photos show deplorable conditions at a facility in Donna, Texas.

The filibuster is just one of 44 standing rules in the Senate. Each is designed to enhance the rights of the individual senators, at the expense of the majority. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen.

Senator Mitch McConnell said if Democrats remove the filibuster rule, it may lead to a scorched earth policy when Republicans regain the majority. He says conservatives wouldn’t just erase every liberal change that hurt the country, they would pass conservative policies with zero input from the other side.

McConnell said, “How about this, nationwide right to work, or working America defunding Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities on day one, a whole new era of domestic energy production, sweeping new protections for conscience, and the right to life of the unborn.”

The filibuster isn’t the problem. The Senate isn’t broken. All that’s really standing in the way of good legislation is a Democratic majority unwilling to compromise on any aspect of their radical agenda.

H.R. 6 would provide green cards and a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants, including violent gang members. This irresponsible legislation will only encourage more illegal immigration and worsen the crisis. The Democrats priorities are clear, they don’t want you to have a family barbeque, but they will allow COVID-19 positive migrants into the interior of our country.

Chip Roy (TX-R), “Meanwhile, immigrants today getting raped, abused, beaten, sold into slavery and put into human sex trafficking because we refuse to secure the border of the United States.”

Joe Biden’s policies have directly led to this crisis. Moving forward, we must immediately halt catch and release, resume construction of our Southern border wall, and reinstitute the remain-in-Mexico policy.

Democrats snuck a provision into their nearly 2-trillion dollar Covid bailout bill prohibiting states from cutting taxes for 4 years if they accept any Covid money. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Steve Moore is a former economic adviser for the Trump administration. He says many states have budget surpluses and want to return that money to the taxpayers.

Steve Moore: “I’ve never seen anything like this in a piece of legislation I don’t think it’s constitutional. I’m not a constitutional scholar, but how can the federal government tell the states how they spend their money, what they can do with their tax codes, again it gets back to this point that the Democrats don’t want these red states to be cutting their taxes, and using that as an incentive for people to leave states like New York and New Illinois and going to places like Florida, Texas.

Moore said Nebraska, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Utah are all looking at eliminating their income tax to become more competitive, but the Covid bailout slams the brakes on that – saying, You cannot cut your taxes.

Democrats are blaming the massive new surge of illegals at the border on Donald Trump. But the facts tell a different story. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. This week House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy traveled to the border on a fact-finding mission.

Kevin McCarthy: “Every part of what we sat and talked to, we learned more of how it was created. Congressman Jimenez talked to a family from Honduras and asked how long they’d been traveling, 22 days, just a coincidence of the actions taken by President Biden of why people think they can come here and break the law.”

Apprehensions at the border jumped 28 percent last month compared to January. Of the more than 100,000 people apprehended, nearly a third were unaccompanied minors. This is Biden’s border crisis. His catch-and-release policies are inviting migrants to make a dangerous trek to the U.S.
