Job searches are up in states that opted out of Joe Biden’s unemployment benefits. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The employment website Indeed has found that people began searching for jobs more in states that decided to opt out of the federal government’s expanded unemployment benefits. Indeed found that search activity grew in the days after states made the announcement about ending the programs and increased across several sectors. A state’s share of national clicks, on average, was up between 3% and 4% from the day of the announcement to three days later. Tourism, hospitality, sales, and marketing saw the greatest increases, although search activity also rose among career paths not typically associated with lower wages, such as banking, finance, and the medical field. The national average of statewide unemployment insurance prior to the pandemic was $387 per week. With Biden’s pandemic bonus unemployment, those same workers are now netting $687 per week on average. That is more than double the federal minimum wage. An Atlanta ‘defund the police’ backer had his car stolen by kids in broad daylight. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Brown voted earlier this year to withhold $73 million from the Atlanta police budget. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, while he was attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony at least four kids jumped into his car and took off. Brown told one reporter, “You don’t immediately think, ‘Oh, these kids are going to steal my car.” The incident occurred in the middle of a crime wave in the city. Brown, who joined the city’s mayoral race less than three weeks ago, is running on a campaign of “reimagining public safety.” Brown said his Mercedes-Benz coupe has keyless push-to-start ignition and he failed to realize it had been started. The councilman described the kids as being between ages 6 and 12. Maybe Brown needs to “reimagine” beefing up policing efforts in his city rather than defunding them. Biden thinks he can get an additional 7-hundred billion dollars in tax collections with this scheme. But many tax experts say that number is way too optimistic. The truth is – the money is always in the middle class. So, don’t believe Biden for one minute when he tells you the “wealthy” will pay for their crazy giveaways. First that’s offensive, because it is just another attempt to divide Americans – them versus us. Rich versus poor. That’s not who we are as Americans. That’s how third world countries operate. Walgreens has closed 17 stores in Democrat-run San Francisco due to rampant shoplifting problems created by voters. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. If you love watching Democrats get exactly what they voted for, you’ll love this. Several years ago, idiots in California basically legalized shoplifting. Proposition 47, no longer made it a felony to steal if the value of what you steal doesn’t exceed $950. Instead of being punished as a felon, you are hit with a misdemeanor, and in many cases not even that. As you can imagine, this has turned into a free-for-all for shoplifters and a stone-cold nightmare for retailers. The result? According to the far-left San Francisco Chronicle… “Out of control’: Organized crime drives S.F. shoplifting, closing 17 Walgreens in five years.” Here’s how one Board of Supervisor put it: “This has been out of control. People are scared to go into these stores — seniors, people with disabilities, children. It’s just happening brazenly. To which, I can only say – not my problem. Tech companies that made Black Lives Matter pledges have fewer Black employees than companies that kept their mouths shut. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In another case of liberal hypocrisy, a new study finds that tech companies that lectured the rest of us on equity, white privilege, etc, don’t practice what they preach. Turns out companies that didn’t jump on the BLM bandwagon are actually more diverse than the phonies who released public pledges to promote racial justice in the wake of George Floyd’s death last summer. The woke companies had 20% fewer Black employees on average than companies who remained silent. The finding highlights a gap between what companies say about social issues and what they do in their own workplaces. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. It’s called Projecting. It’s when you attribute your own unacceptable traits onto another. Projection allows the difficult trait to be addressed without the individual fully recognizing it in themselves.
