Obama: Parishioner of the Church of Big Government

  • In the past week, the U.S. has learned to some horror that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) had attended a church which promoted racist views. But it is with equal horror that he has knelt at the altar of Big Government, and worshipped Big Spending.

Larry Kudlow’s February 15th piece, “Obama’s Gloomy Big-Government Vision” gives us an idea of what we’ll be in store for under an Obama Administration:

“Obama unveiled much of his economic strategy in Wisconsin this week: He wants to spend $150 billion on a green-energy plan. He wants to establish an infrastructure investment bank to the tune of $60 billion. He wants to expand health insurance by roughly $65 billion. He wants to “reopen” trade deals, which is another way of saying he wants to raise the barriers to free trade. He intends to regulate the profits for drug companies, health insurers, and energy firms. He wants to establish a mortgage-interest tax credit. He wants to double the number of workers receiving the earned-income tax credit (EITC) and triple the EITC benefit for minimum-wage workers.

“The Obama spend-o-meter is now up around $800 billion. And tax hikes on the rich won’t pay for it. It’s the middle class that will ultimately shoulder this fiscal burden in terms of higher taxes and lower growth.”

Clearly, Obama wants to grow the Leviathan at a time when we need to be tightening our belts.

ALG Perspective: Obama’s church and its hateful message should be a cause for concern among voters, but his proposals for Colossal Government should truly alarm us as well. Americans ought to watch out for their wallets and pocketbooks when they vote in November, and know that if the next president is Obama, at the Church of Big Government, the ushers come courtesy of the IRS.
