If the protestors that are part of “Occupy Wall Street” and all of the other allied protests honestly think that Obama is on their side, they have another thing coming. But I’ll get to that in a second.
First, Obama signals more support to the OWS folks:
In an interview that will be aired tonight on ABC News, President Obama continues to express his commitment to the Occupy Wall Street protesters.
“The most important thing we can do right now is those of us in leadership letting people know that we understand their struggles and we are on their side, and that we want to set up a system in which hard work, responsibility, doing what you’re supposed to do, is rewarded,” Obama tells ABC News. “And that people who are irresponsible, who are reckless, who don’t feel a sense of obligation to their communities and their companies and their workers that those folks aren’t rewarded.”
Here is a list of reasons why he is simply paying lip service, as most politicians in his position often do, to the left-wing protest movement of the week:
- Obama supported bailing out Wall Street banks as a candidate for President in 2008 and as a U.S. Senator when confronted with the bailout vote
- Obama has broken a multitude of promises he made on the campaign trail in 2008
- Obama is a politician. It is in his very nature to say things to maximize support even if he doesn’t mean it. Never forget that he is in the business of getting votes to keep a job.
- Obama has implemented absolutely zero policies that actually do anything to fix the “too big too fail” mentality that has led to Wall Street bankers fleecing taxpayers
- Obama is no foe of Wall Street, in fact, he his one of the biggest beneficiaries of Wall Street campaign donations of all time. In fact, his 2012 campaign has received over $1.6 million dollars from the Securities & Investment industry according to OpenSecrets.org. And in 2008, he took nearly $16 million in campaign donations from the same sector, receiving more support from the financial sector than any candidate that cycle. Obama is hardly in fierce opposition to Wall Street bankers.
The Occupy Wall Street crowd will show how mentally inept their “movement” is if they allow themselves to be fooled by simple rhetoric that is delivered by the Charlatan-in-Chief in Washington. All indications seem to point to a blind faith in government and politicians that have created the very problems they protest.
