Denton: Democrats push left on health care to socialized medicine

By ALG Staff

On this week’s episode of Conservative Commandos, Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning interviewed Wesley Denton of the Conservative Partnership Institute. Denton provided insight on the 2018 midterm races and how the left is being pushed further away from moderation and rational politics on issues like health care.

Denton notes, “When [the left] sold Obamacare it was… ‘we are just trying to strengthen our healthcare system, give you more choices and reduced prices’ now they’re straight up saying ‘we want to have socialized medicine, we want the government controlling you decisions, we are going to do Medicare for all to take over the entire healthcare system and we don’t know how many trillions it is going to cost but we will figure it out.’”

As Manning pointed out, “progressive” is no long the term to describes the left, they have become full-fledged socialists. In an effort to fuel outrage and excite the base, liberals have abandoned moderate policies in favor of an obstructionist’s agenda.

In a recent sit down with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi put this far left platform on full display. When discussing climate change policy, Pelosi told Krugman, “We owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there is some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose,”

This dismissal of those on the other side as “collateral damage” in pursuit of a far-left agenda is the exact extremism Denton sees as central to the new lefts platform.
