Progressive activists and academics are now calling for a twenty-six-dollar-an-hour minimum wage. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Progressive economist Dean Baker writes quote – A twenty-six-dollars-an-hour minimum wage may sound pretty crazy, but that’s roughly what the minimum wage would be today if it had kept pace with productivity growth since its value peaked in nineteen-sixty-eight. While it might sound idyllic for everyone to make that much money, idealism can’t change economic reality. As economist Thomas Sowell famously explained, “the real minimum wage is always zero, because there’s always the option not to employ the worker at all. And if the minimum wage is arbitrarily set at a level above the value of the worker’s labor, employing a dishwasher at twenty-six-dollars-an-hour would be charity, not business. Political leaders on the left and Big Tech are joining arms to not just deplatform dissident voices from social media, but to bar them from the digital space entirely, including from having the ability to make and receive payments online. Chase Bank reportedly planned to close the credit card account of former national security adviser Michael Flynn on Sept. 18, stating that “continuing the relationship creates possible reputational risk to our company.” While as of Aug. 31, a Chase spokesperson said that they had “made an error and apologized for any inconvenience caused,” the initial gesture can’t be ignored. This comes just a couple months after Wells Fargo made the “business decision” to close 2020 Republican Delaware Senate candidate’s account. Two of the more prominent digital payment services, PayPal and Stripe, have also become active cancel culture participants. Social Security, Medicare Are in Deep Trouble, but Solutions Mean Tough Choices. with today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. According to the latest trustee reports, Social Security will be unable to pay full benefits a year earlier than previously projected, while Medicare’s insolvency date remains just five years away. But nobody in the nation’s capital is stepping up with proposals to fix the two largest federal entitlement programs. Between them, those benefits consume nearly one-third of all federal spending. The cost of benefits are rising faster than the available funds to cover them—tax revenues, individual premiums and trust funds—with the result that, absent any reforms, Medicare insolvency is projected for twenty-twenty-six 2026 and Social Security’s for twenty-thirty-three. Heritage Foundation Senior Fellow Doug Badger said that political will is the key to making progress. quote – We need leaders in both parties to get serious about fiscal matters in general and about middle-class entitlements in particular. A key FBI agent in Gov. Whitmer kidnapping plot posted anti-Trump rants online during the investigation. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. According to the Detroit News, federal prosecutors dropped the testimony of an FBI agent involved in the investigation of an alleged plot to kidnap Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer after finding he called former President Donald Trump a “piece of s***” on social media while the investigation was ongoing. An attorney for Brandon Caserta, who is among the six people charged in the case — said prosecutors decided not to use Agent Richard Trask’s testimony during a pending October trial. Agent Trask’s involvement in the case had already been complicated after he was arrested in July for allegedly beating his wife during a dispute over a swingers’ party. A Gold Star mother of one of the fallen Marines killed in the suicide bombing at the Kabul Airport says that Facebook disabled her Instagram account after she posted about her deceased son. Shana Chappell posted a photo of her son Kareem Nikoui on her Instagram account of her son with a broad smile, cradling his rifle amid the crowds of civilians and razor wire at the gate of the airport in Kabul. ‘This is the last picture my son sent me of himself. It was taken on Sunday. I know I am still in shock right now. I felt my soul leave my body as I was screaming that it can’t be true! No mother, no parent should ever have to hear that their child is gone,’ she wrote in the post.” But Big Tech censors and bullies went too far this time. A Chicago judge has restored a mother’s parental rights after revoking them because she wasn’t vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Cook County Judge James Shapiro revoked parental custody from Rebecca Firlit last month preventing her from seeing her 11-year-old son because of “serious endangerment” since she had not received a COVID-19 vaccine. Firlit told the Sun-Times that she’s had adverse reactions to vaccines in the past and was advised not to get vaccinated by my doctor because – quote It poses a risk.
During a child support hearing over Zoom, Shapiro asked Firlit if she had been vaccinated. When Firlit said she hadn’t, Shapiro took away her custody of her son until she received a COVID-19 vaccine. In another, unrelated child support case, Shapiro also asked a parent if he was vaccinated against COVID-19. This is clear case of a judge overstepping his authority… hence he reversed himself. Another black eye for the FBI. With today’s Americans for Limited Government Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The FBI now admits it hid payments to informant in white supremacist case. The FBI, already under fire for its handling of FISA warrants and confidential informants, is enduring more scrutiny as the Justice Department admits agents failed to disclose to a court that they had paid one hundred and forty-four thousand dollars over sixteen years to a white supremacist publisher to be an investigative source. The admission came in a series of court filings in the case of Kaleb Cole, a Washington state man accused of being a member of the white supremacist group and participating in an intimidation campaign against Jewish Americans and minority journalists. Cole has pleaded innocent and awaits trial. Cole’s lawyers filed a motion to suppress evidence gathered against their client. The FBI is also under scrutiny for its use of confidential informants in the a bizarre plot against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. For more check us out at the DailyTorch.com

The Taliban has vowed to tackle climate change and global security as part of the terror group’s attempt to rebrand itself and modernize. A Taliban spokesperson told Newsweek: quote – We believe the world has a unique opportunity of rapprochement and coming together to tackle the challenges not only facing us but the entire humanity. Will the left ignore reports of civilian executions and the erosion of women’s rights under the new Afghan regime?
