Critical Race Theory, the practice of framing political issues through the lens of race – including seemingly detached issues like infrastructure spending – has become a cornerstone of the modern Democratic Party. While the media relentlessly slammed Trump as a bigot or worse, Trump’s racially agnostic focus on “America First” principles earned him substantially higher Black and Hispanic support in 2020 than 2016, particularly among men. Trump won 12% of Black Americans in 2020, up from 8% in 2016. His share of the Black male vote rose from 13% in 2016 to 18% in 2020. Did it really take a Yale study to tell you that divisive racial politics is uncool? For more check us out at the DailyTorch.com.

In February, President Joe Biden issued an Executive Order to review America’s supply chains. Today, we have a number of challenges for business owners who want to compete. They worry about gas prices, foreign competitors and finding a staff. Shouldn’t Biden be reviewing that?

In a show strength against the radical defund police movement, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has signed a bill prohibiting large cuts to police budgets. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The legislation stops cities and counties in the state from reducing their law enforcement budgets by more than 5% in one year or over the course of five years, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Radical movements like the ‘defund the police’ movement seek to vilify the men and women who leave their families every day and put their lives on the line to protect all Georgians. The signing of the law comes after months of protests against the police and calls by Democrat politicians such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York, and Ilhan Omar, Minnesota, to defund police forces across the country. The bill will also require local governments that want to cut a police budget by more than 5% to hold public hearings to discuss the change. For more check us out at the Daily Torch.com.

When it comes to talking about Covid, millions of Americans have learned to submit quietly to the suppression of free speech. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. A recent guest column on the conservative website American Greatness points out that even if common sense tells us that so many of these restrictions do nothing, we know our doubts will only be met with derision and accusations that we are “literally killing people.” Far from creating stability, this suppression of free speech has fueled resentment and anger among everyone. In the past, we could still maintain friendships with people with whom we disagreed. Today, these types of friendships are increasingly rare. Many have seen their social circle shrink and because of COVID-19. Unity becomes impossible when it becomes clear that they mean to achieve it by silencing certain voices in favor of others. Overall, it is fair to say that limitations on free speech have left the country dumber, sicker, less free, less happy, and hopelessly divided. For more check us out at the DailyTorch.com

President Joe Biden is talking about the cyber-attack and saying America will stop future attacks. The attacks have raised gas prices. Biden just puts forth government programs to help. Does he really know what American business people go through?

Have you noticed you’re paying more at the grocery store these days? With today’s ALG Minute. I’m Catherine Mortensen. After years of low inflation, we are beginning to pay sharply higher prices for goods and services as the economy strains to rev back up and the pandemic wanes. Price tags on consumer goods from processed meat to dishwashing products have risen by double-digit percentages from a year ago, according to NielsenIQ. Whirlpool freezers and dishwashers and Scotts Miracle-Gro lawn and garden products are also going up. Toilet paper, apples, frosted flakes, and pringles are just a few other products you’ll be paying more for. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said on April 28 that inflationary pressures resulting from supply-chain problems would likely be temporary and wouldn’t prompt the central bank to change policies aimed to keep borrowing costs down. According to Marketwatch: economists say Biden’s massive stimulus spending is partly to blame for rising prices. For more check us out at the DailyTorch.com.

At this rate, 2022 Could Be a Bloodbath for Democrats. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The House Democrats have the slimmest majority in decades – an advantage of only six seats – seven when Troy Carter of Louisiana is sworn in- and are looking at a full slate of retiring members in the 2022 midterm. According to the Washington Post, there are potentially seven Democrats giving up their seats in the House. If it happens that the Democrats lose every one of those seats, then the Republicans are in good shape to reclaim the House. But even if some or all of those seats remain blue, the Democrats will have spent resources desperately needed elsewhere to maintain their majority. Their resources are going to be spread very thin next year. To make matters even worse for them, Republicans will control a lot of the redistricting across the country, giving them an advantage in future electoral maps. A.O.C. is looking at the current immigration crisis and saying it can’t be called a “surge.” She tells you why and tells you why it’s some kind of white supremacist thing. Add to that, she isn’t fighting Biden’s mishandling of child migrants quite the way she did with Trump.

Jarrett Twigg is the co-owner of The Provincial in Apex, NC. He says staffers are getting a lot of money to sit at home and have no reason to go through the rigors of life in the restaurant business. So, he loses business. Is this a Biden-era tactic?
