States that Are Getting it Right and the Ones Getting it Wrong. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The new annual report from the American Legislative Exchange Council that rates states on economic climate is out. For the 14th year in a row Utah is at the top of the rankings. That’s because it prioritized sound, free-market economic policy. We thought it would be interesting to see which states have moved up and down the ladder the most over the last decade. The five most improved states are: North Carolina, Indiana, Wisconsin, Florida, and Oklahoma.The five that are moving down the list fastest are Maryland, Missouri, Virginia, Colorado, and Mississippi. If you’re wondering where California, Illinois, and New York are on this list, they’ve been so stuck in the basement for the last decade, they can’t possibly fall any lower. One big thing Republicans are promising if they gain control of the House in the midterms. With today’s ALG I’m Catherine Mortensen. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is promising to strip key committee assignments of antisemitic members like Ilhan Omar. Here is what McCarthy told Fox and Friends.

“I can promise you this, if we are fortunate enough to have the majority, Omar would not be serving on Foreign Affairs — or anybody that has an antisemitic, anti-American view. That is not productive, and that is not right.”

He previously called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to take action against Omar after the controversial congresswoman tweeted an exchange she had with Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a congressional hearing in which she appeared to conflate the actions of the United States and Israel with those of the Taliban and Hamas. When called upon to censure or rebuke Omar for her comments, Pelosi stated very clearly that she will not rebuke Omar. We need a change in House Leadership! The release of confidential tax returns for some of the wealthiest Americans sparked controversy last week, and now Senate Republicans are demanding answers. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Senate Republicans sent a letter to the inspector general for tax issues calling for an investigation after ProPublica obtained and released tax returns of wealthy Americans, information that is supposed to remain confidential. That story included information about Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Tesla’s Elon Musk, among others, showing many paid very little or no taxes at all. According to the senator’s letter, ProPublica’s description of the data strongly suggests that the information originated from within the IRS. If this is true, this constitutes a serious breach of privacy and is a criminal violation of our tax laws. It would be one of the most significant and widespread breaches in the agency’s history and considerably damages the foundational bedrock of our tax system, including American taxpayers’ confidence that the IRS will keep their personal information confidential. Jon Stewart makes us laugh in a way that is reminiscent of his glory years. But this time it is about one of the most serious topics he’s had to make material for, COVID-19. While the president says, “Trust science,” Jon Stewart says science is what probably lead to the pandemic!

Viewers Reject LGBTQA agenda for children. There’s growing evidence that Nickelodeon’s hard push to promote the LGBTQA agenda to children is having a negative impact on the network’s ratings. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In the last two weeks, both Nickelodeon and its preschool-targeted network, Nick Jr., have released videos championing “trans,” “queer,” and “pansexual” inclusion. One video that sparked mass outrage depicted a cartoon version of a drag queen singing about various LGBTQA groups “[loving] each other so proudly” on “Blues Clues and You,” a show for two- to five-year olds. That same video showed a female-to-male transgender beaver who appeared to have post-operative surgical scars on its chest. These latest videos come after the network began overtly celebrating “Pride” month several years ago and implied in 2020 that its most popular character, SpongeBob SquarePants, is gay. Since July of 2017, Nickelodeon’s viewership has dropped from 1.3 million average viewers per week to a June of 2021 average of only 372,000. Bongino.com reports small businesses are being crushed in a big way. We wonder if the big, blue states have re-opened too late or if the labor shortage and inflation will be too much. This is sad news for a nation that loves small business.

Take Action to Create an Independent Commission

Are Dr. Fauci and other so-called experts part of a Covid cover-up? With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. It is clear we are not getting the truth out of China, and now it appears we are not getting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth from Fauci. In questioning from Sen. Rand Paul last month Fauci, claimed the National Institutes of Health has never and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. But we know that federal grants were given to subcontractors working with the notorious lab. The only way we’er going to get to the bottom of the origins of the Covid virus and the U.S. involvement in the gain of function research in Wuhan is through an independent commission. This week Americans for Limited Government is asking you to send an email to your Senators and Congressman asking them to support H.R. 834- a measure which would create a bipartisan commission to look at the origins of the virus.
