Corporate wokeness isn’t going away. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that over the weekend dozens of chief executives gathered on Zoom to plot what big businesses should do next about new voting laws under way in Texas and other states. According to several people who attended the virtual gathering. the former head of American Express and the CEO of Merck urged the leaders to call for greater voting access and asked them to sign a statement opposing what they view as discriminatory legislation on voting. A statement could come early this week that would build on one that 72 black executives signed last month opposing Georgia’s new voter integrity laws. Still, plenty of companies remain wary of wading into politically charged areas. As conservatives we can contact the consumer or stakeholder relations divisions of companies we do business with and urge them to stay out of politics. All we’re asking is for them to be neutral.

Debunking Biden’s bogus jobs numbers! With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. According to Moody’s Analytics Biden’s massive so-called infrastructure bill will help create 18.9 million new jobs by 2030. Sounds great! But wait. The Washington Times points out that if everyone kept their money in their pockets and the federal government did nothing, the economy will create 16.3 million jobs on its own. This leaves a net increase of about 2.6 million jobs.

But the “infrastructure” package costs two-and-a-quarter trillion dollars. Third grade math calculations tell you taxpayers would spend roughly $900,000 per job created. If the jobs pay an average of, say $100,000, then every job is a net negative for the economy. And these are the people who accused Trump of bad math.
And by the way – Moody’s analytics said the Trump tax plan would have no positive effect on the economy.

Border Patrol encountered more children at the border in March than other record highs. The Biden administration’s policies have proven to be way too dangerous for kids. Leaked video or their living conditions or their abuse by smugglers as well as a horrific video of an abandoned child show how bad it is!

Why is the left dominating corporate America? With Today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In a word: engagement. For more than a decade, the left has actively and constantly engaged with corporate America – through protests and other forms of activism. In some cases, they’ve even bought up shares in these publicly traded companies so that they can be the tail that wags the dog of corporate action.

“And the right needs to engage companies with equal vigor or we’re going to continue to see what we saw in Georgia, where companies are all on-board to frankly, corrupt our elections by lying about Georgia’s integrity measures.”

That’s Justin Danhof – general counsel for the National Center for Public Policy Research. He’s part of a national coalition to take on this corporate tyranny. The group has launched a website called Stop corporate tyranny.org. It is a one-stop shop for educational resources and tools for everyday Americans to fight back against the woke mob.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is peddling a Joe Biden scheme to have all the world’s developed nation’s promise to keep corporate tax rates high so that no country can get a tax advantage over another. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. Biden wants to hike U.S. corporate tax rates from 21 percent up to 28 percent – and impose a 21 percent minimum tax on U.S. companies foreign income and raise taxes on some foreign companies’ U.S. operations.

Ms. Yellen said in remarks to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs on Monday, “It is about making sure that governments have stable tax systems that raise sufficient revenue to invest in essential public goods and respond to crises, and that all citizens fairly share the burden of financing government.”

Biden may be a dolt, but he is no dummy. He knows that if his corporate tax hikes are enacted without a global minimum tax, a U.S. address becomes a potential disadvantage, meaning that foreign-owned businesses operating overseas could be significantly more profitable than competitors owned by U.S. companies.

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter is releasing his memoirs today and the media is throwing him softballs. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. CBS News’s Tracy Smith had zero follow up to this obvious question:

“And you didn’t drop off a lap top to be repaired in Delaware?” No, not that I remember, at all.”

Fox news contributor, and former congressman Trey Gowdy says Hunter’s many personal tragedies don’t give him a pass from hard questions.

“When you write a book and when you traffic in your father’s name, then you’re going to be scrutinized, and all I’m asking is that the media and social media scrutinize him the same way they did the Trump children and the Bush children. Just be fair about it.”

And what about the revelation that Hunter was first exposed to alcohol at age 8 at his father’s senate reelection party? Sounds like child neglect to me.
